Spring 2021
As COVID restrictions began lifting this spring, Tufts was able to host in-person commencement ceremonies for individual departments and programs. These ceremonies were recorded and included as part of the University-wide commencement virtual event on May 24, 2021. Film and Media Studies participated with Tufts Music and the Tufts Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies. Faculty and staff from all three areas attended the ceremony, which included the joyous sound of cowbells clanging as the students were conferred their degrees!
The individual ceremonies were filmed by Charles River Media Group with owner and Tufts Professor of the Practice, Don Schechter, taking the lead on the project (and appearing as the Tufts mascot, Jumbo, in the films!). The entire Tufts 165th Commencement ceremony can be viewed here.
