Congratulations to Professor of the Practice Jennifer Burton, Five Sisters Productions, and all the Tufts students who worked on the production team for Tapping Into Our Past, Tapping Into our Future: Ayodele Casel. The film has been included in several film festivals and has received the following awards (so far!):
Lunenberg Doc Fest, best short documentary
Tallgrass Film Festival, audience award winner
This film is part of the Half the History series on under-told stories of diverse women in US history. Choreographer/dancer Ayodele Casel (named one of the top breakout stars of the year by The New York Times just before the pandemic) creates work inspired by the history of Black tap dancers who came before her.
